A home theater system is a great way to replicate the experience of a movie theater without the inconvenient sounds of candy wrappers, popcorn crunching, and whispering movie goers. And as the prices of electronics continue to come down year after year, the possession of a home theater is no longer considered a luxury and is becoming increasingly popular.

Not only have home theater prices dropped dramatically but so has their ease of installation. Even if you choose to install your home theater yourself, in many cases you can complete the installation in less than a day. And others, where maybe special wiring is needed to install certain components will not take that much longer.

The term home theater can have a lot of different meanings to a lot of different people.  To some, it's purely a status symbol. To others, it's a way to enjoy their favorite movies on a big screen at their convenience. And to others, it's a way to avoid the crowds in the local cineplexes and to simply enjoy a good movie in private at home.

Audio centers do not make it easy to walk away from a home theater setup. If you go to a high performance audio store they will sometimes have a model home theater set up for you to look at with a giant screen television and huge speakers set up all over the room.  Walking into one of these setups is so seductive that you can't help imagining where in your house this beautiful system will fit.  

You can easily imagine yourself with a home movie theater that up to a decade ago you would find only in the homes of a famous athlete or rock star. Today, almost anyone can have a home theater that not only has a huge projection screen but it is set up like a movie theater with plush recliners and surround sound audio that puts you right into the action taking place on the screen.

Having a home theater is also a good way to add value to a home, especially in upscale areas. Sure, you still get the most bang for the buck in investing for kitchen and bathroom upgrades in your home. But having a custom home movie theaters is not that far behind.

A home theater simply makes a great addition to the home. A simple addition to the home that is just fun for everyone.
